Company Job Title

Invitation to tender for bookkeeping services

Scope of Work

The appointed bookkeeper will be responsible for:

  • Inputting purchase invoices and allocating to the relevant expense code and category using Xero
  • Reconciling the bank at the end of each month
  • Ensuring the accounts are up to date each month and accurate for the Country Treasurer to review and report back to the Finance Committee
  • Adjust the accounts to ensure management information is accurate to include posting prepayments and accruals, and calculating depreciation
  • Managing payroll and pension contributions
  • Setting up payments on the bank each month for approval by the County Organiser or County Treasurer
  • Supporting annual audit preparation
  • Advising on financial procedures and best practices
  • Credit Control

 

The services are expected to be delivered remotely, but you may be required to attend the County Office at Cheriton Bishop from time to time as requested.

 

You will be expected to report to the County Organiser, Chairman of the Finance Committee and the Country Treasurer.

 

Duration: Initial 12-month contract, renewable upon review

Hours: Estimated 15- 20 hours per month (this may vary from month to month)

Start Date: 22nd September 2025

Payment Terms: Monthly invoicing; rate to be agreed upon contract award.

Are you an experienced livestock professional ready to take the next step in your agricultural career? A progressive and well-established poultry farm in Devon is seeking a motivated and capable Assistant Farm Manager to support day-to-day operations and help drive performance across the site.

📍 Location: Devon
💷 Salary: Circa £40,000 (depending on experience)

About the Role:
Working closely with the Farm Manager, you’ll play a key role in the management of poultry operations, ensuring the highest standards of bird welfare, productivity, and compliance. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with leadership potential and a strong background in livestock or poultry farming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Farm Manager in overseeing daily operations
  • Leading and supervising stock staff and general workers
  • Ensuring optimal flock health, welfare, and performance
  • Managing biosecurity, hygiene, and health & safety protocols
  • Monitoring feed, ventilation, and environmental controls
  • Assisting with record-keeping, audits, and performance data
  • Deputising for the Farm Manager in their absence

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in poultry or livestock farming
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of modern farming practices and welfare standards
  • Proactive, organised, and able to work under pressure
  • Competent in basic IT for record-keeping and compliance
  • Telehandler or machinery experience preferred

🐓 Stockman Wanted – Poultry Farm | Devon | c£28,000

Are you experienced in livestock care and looking for your next opportunity in the agricultural sector? We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Stockman to join our friendly team on a well-run poultry farm in beautiful Devon.

💰 Salary: Circa £28,000 (depending on experience)
📅 Job Type: Full-time, permanent

About the Role:
As Stockman, you’ll be responsible for the daily care and management of our poultry flocks. From feeding and health checks to maintaining clean and safe housing, your work will directly support the health and productivity of our birds.

Your Key Duties Will Include:

  • Daily flock checks and welfare monitoring
  • Feeding, bedding, and general husbandry
  • Identifying and reporting signs of ill health
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and biosecurity
  • Accurate record-keeping
  • Operating farm machinery (training can be provided if needed)

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with livestock (poultry experience preferred but not essential)
  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work weekends and early mornings on a rota basis
  • Tractor or telehandler experience a bonus
