Hello Devon YFC!

Hello everyone, it is a true honour to be in the position to write a Chairman’s report for Devon YFC and I would like to thank everyone for accepting me into this role.  A massive well done to Gareth and all last year’s officers for having such a successful 12 months, especially with the slight (major) obstacles to navigate on the way.

For those that don’t know me, I am Matt Darke from Kingsbridge YFC. I have been a member since I was 16 and have taken part in pretty much all competitions and events that young farmers has to offer. I am really looking forward to representing all the members of our great county and working with the other county officers, club chairmen and secretaries to make this a year of getting everyone back to how we used to know young farmers.  The AGM was slightly different this year held at the Zoom Inn, online. The meeting went extremely well and was well organised by Dan and Helen in the office. We also launched our #WeGrowFutures campaign in partnership with NFU Mutual – check out the campaign video on our social media and watch this space for more to come throughout the year.

We are all hoping to get up and running soon. Hopefully with the vaccine in sight, we will all be back competing in person and socialising (partying) in a true young farmers style. We have a cracking calendar planned and I would love for everyone to jump aboard the YFC wagon when it’s back into full swing.

If anyone has any questions on what is going on or how to get involved with anything do not hesitate to get in contact with any of the county officers or Helen, Denise or Dan  in the county office who are doing a great job keeping everything ticking along smoothly.

That’s all from me folks, hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Cheery bye,

Matt Darke – DFYFC County Chairman
